The Superintendency for Historical, Artistic and Ethno-anthropological Heritage of Milan and Haltadefinizione offer web users a virtual gallery called “Postcards from the Risorgimento." Beginning on April 13 and throughout 2011, to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Italian unification, on the Brera website (www.brera.beniculturali.it) and on the Haltadefinizione website you will be able to see six paintings held in the Pinacoteca di Brera which each recall events, moments and feelings from the years that led to Italian unification.
These images are part of a bigger project run by the Superintendency and Haltadefinizione, for digitalization of several works of the Pinacoteca. The acquisition campaign, made by using cutting-edge technologies and in accordance with the regulations that safeguard and protect the works, already counts over 13,000 photos that lead to images with over 1000 ppi (pixels per inch) of resolution on the actual size of the painting.
