On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the Festival of Ars Electronica Festival (5-9 September 2019), organized by Ars Electronica Center -Museum of the Future, dedicated this year to the theme "Out of the Box", the museum will host the world premiere of the Project “THE LAST SUPPER INTERACTIVE..Art and mathematics in the Renaissance” (LSI Project in 8K). An immersive experimental digital narrative and virtual storytelling combined with immersive technologies, media tools and techniques, that provides a fully 3D immersive virtual reality (VR) stereoscopic interactive journey in 8k definition through Leonardo's Last Supper, and to the historical, cultural patrimony and architectural context, where Leonardo has created his masterpiece.

The spotlight will be given to the 16 billion pixel image of “The Last Supper” realized by Haltadefinizione: the public will be able to “enter" the painting at 360° and zoom into details up to a square millimeter, a true virtual immersion in the masterpiece by Leonardo. In addition to this, a learning device (Alberti’s Theorem Virtual Tool) has been specially designed for LSI to help visitors understand how Leonardo applied linear perspective to the fresco. LSI will go on in display in Ars Electronica Center 's Deep Space 8K, an exhibit space of 16 x 9 meter wall and 16 x 9 meters of floor projection, with laser tracking and 3D-8K resolution images.
