Starting on October 15, 2015, a new large installation will welcome travelers: “EVERLASTING” made by the Albanian artist Helidon Xhixha (Durazzo, 1970). Some sections of Leonardo’s “Last Supper,” the masterpiece par excellence, were faithfully reproduced on 9 panels in a larger scale by HALTADEFINIZIONE®, the international brand specialized in artwork reproductions. The Last Supper is the focus in front of which the artist puts 12 pillars in stainless steel, thus creating an evocative location that intends to suggest a connection between places and times, in a new way to show the airport as a bridge between art and observer.
Xhixha says: “The perfect symmetry and logical linearity of the sculptures are valid for both the steel pillars and for the composition of Leonardo da Vinci, and they symbolize the message of the number twelve in the universal order. The shapes, clear and simple, evoke a pure universality that shines from beneath the surface of the masterpiece – just as it does with different religions and creeds”.
