The small town of Aubusson, in the heart of France, has always been well known for its tapestry production. This ancient art is on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Haltadefinizione and the French institute “Cité Internationale de la Tapisserie et de l'Art Tisée” are collaborating on an ambitious project of documentation, rediscovery and valorization
The precious tapestry by Antoine Jorrand, "La Fée des bois" (1909, 138.5 by 95.25 inches, or 352 x 242 cm), which is part of the Museum collection, has now been digitized in ultra-high definition. The reproduction, at a resolution of more than 1600 ppi (pixels per inch), will allow researchers to to conduct detailed studies, magnifying individual threads and analysing the weaving technique used to create it.
