Haltadefinizione: Not Only for Works of Art


The historical archives of the Gazzetta di Parma are now online.

The team of companies that produced the popular success of the Estense Digital Library is ready for more. The leaders in ultra-high resolution image creation and management (Haltadefinizione/Franco Cosimo Panini), cataloging (Hyperborea), and digital library management (Horizons Unlimited) are back at work on more digital humanities projects.

One of these, the digitalization of the archives of the Gazzetta di Parma newspaper, has just concluded Phase One. The municipality of Parma and the Gazzetta di Parma have produced this project with support from the Emilia-Romagna Regional government. The Gazzetta di Parma’s historical archives from 1920 to 1947 are now available free in an exclusive online portal.

All the documents are readable in IIIF format, the standard for viewing, annotation, sharing and management of ultra-high definition images. Digital content is delivered on Haltadefinizione’s digital asset manager, based on Memooria’s Jarvis technology.
