As part of the 2024 European Heritage Days (Saturday, September 28 and Sunday, September 29), the UniCredit Art Collection and Haltadefinizione present their first digitization project that unites art with technology to bring new value to the collection. The Awakening of Venus by Dosso Dossi is part of the UniCredit Collection and is displayed at their gallery called the Quadreria di Palazzo Magnani in Bologna. Now that Haltadefinizione has digitized the painting, it is available to the public in new formats.
In the Quadreria gallery space, a kind of multimedia totem pole shows the digitization in an immersive ultra-high definition trip into the heart of the painting. This reveals microscopic details, from the texture of the canvas to the layers of paint, along with some art history commentary.
The Awakening of Venus by Dosso Dossi is available for viewing online in ultra-high definition in both the Haltadefinizione Image Bank and in the gallery at the UniCredit Art Collection site.
For UniCredit, this project is part of a broader effort to provide greater public access to the UniCredit Art Collection and to use digital technology to make their collection available in new ways.
