Haltadefinizione was chosen for the ultra-high definition (over 2000 dpi) scanning of a selection of drawings belonging to the Fondo Peterzano - one of the most complex and significant collections of drawings among those kept in the Sforza Castle’s Gabinetto dei Disegni archives. The drawings come from the workshop of Simone Peterzano, an artist with Venetian roots to whom the young Caravaggio was apprenticed from 1584 to 1588.
The ultra-high definition images will provide an important tool for scholars and art historians. The preview took place at the exhibition "Simone Peterzano e i disegni del Castello Sforzesco" (Simone Peterzano and the Sforza Castle’s Drawings) from December 15, 2012 through March 17, 2013. The exhibition itinerary features a dedicated multimedia station allowing the public to view the images acquired and explore every detail and mark of the drawings on display.
